Jedediah was born in a small cottage which was part of the Old Market Place, South Normanton in 1726.   Old Market Place was at the bottom of Church Street on an area of land once occupied by The Shoulder of Mutton Inn and car park.   The site has recently been re-developed and is now ‘Sporton Close’.
